Guests/Companions at the Retreat

Guests/Companions at the Retreat

We sometimes receive requests from coach students who would like to bring a family member or friend to Hawaii to join you at the Retreat Center.

While we understand you wanting to share the beauty of Hawaii, and to travel with those close to you, we cannot offer accommodations at this time for a few reasons:

First, we wish to ensure the health and safety of group members. While the pandemic is thankfully behind us, there remain pockets of infection that continue to affect numbers of people. Individuals traveling to and from public places, and returning to the retreat center, which is relatively small and intimate, heightens the risk of infection for those participating in the retreat.

We also want to support the retreat atmosphere for the participants. Very often discussions from the group meetings, including sensitive personal experiences, carry over to mealtimes, which we have found are just as important an element of the retreat as the training sessions. To support confidentiality, we prefer that the meals are shared by retreat participants only,

We trust that you will understand this policy, geared to maximize the value of your retreat experience. Thank you for your support.

We value family and friends and want you and your dear ones to have a positive travel experience. There are a number of outstanding hotels, and some lovely bed and breakfast sites not far from the retreat center.  You might like to extend your travel to add time in Hawaii before and/or after the retreat, and enjoy that time with your family. While you are at the retreat your family can explore and enjoy their vacation.

A few things to know before you arrive:

  • The center is in a very remote location with limited services.
  • There are no appliances in any of the rooms; no fridge, no microwave, no coffee maker, no hairdryer, etc.
  • The closest town, Hawi – pronounced HA-VEE, is a sleepy little place, with a grocery store, a few restaurants, and some small quaint shops.
  • Cell phone and Wi-Fi services are available at the retreat center. You may have to position yourself in a public area to get the best reception.
